Job Description
Our client, a prominent international clearing and forwarding company, is seeking an experienced Senior Ocean Freight Export Controller to join their dynamic team in Isando, Johannesburg. This senior role is critical in ensuring smooth ocean export operations, resolving queries promptly, and providing relief cover for the National Ocean Freight Manager when required.
Requirements:
- Minimum Grade 12; SDS and/or Freight Forwarding qualification advantageous.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a clearing & forwarding environment.
- Strong knowledge of Bills of Lading, customs procedures, documentation, and client billing.
- Sound understanding of Incoterms, Ocean Export tariffs, and operational practices.
- Experience in projects considered an advantage.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Handle Bills of Lading, customs entries, clearance documentation, job costing, and client billing.
- Maintain accurate records and client information
- Ensure compliance with Incoterms, Ocean Export tariffs, and statutory clearance procedures.
- Resolve client, service provider, and internal queries professionally and timeously.
- Take responsibility for job profitability, including accurate job costing and billing.
- Track, trace, and arrange timely dispatch of cargo, including insurance cover where required.
- Ensure paperless working environment and timely entry of documentation.
- Support team goals, participate in meetings, and suggest improvements to increase efficiencies.
- Provide relief cover for the National Ocean Freight Manager when required.
Working Hours:
Monday to Friday: 08:00 – 17:00
Salary & Benefits:
- Competitive CTC: R38,000 – R42,000, depending on experience.
- Includes Provident Fund contributions.
